Blandford Select Board Approves $11,960 to Repaint Highway Garage Fuel Tanks

BLANDFORD — April 13, 2026 — Blandford Select Board votes to repaint Highway Garage fuel tanks and begins organizing 250th anniversary events. The board voted unanimously Monday to spend $11,960 from free cash to have M&M Site Services scrape, prime, and paint both exterior fuel tanks and an adjoining staircase at the Highway Garage, with the appropriation heading to a special town meeting now targeted for May 26. Members also appointed Maureen Boomsma to the Hilltown Community Ambulance Association and declined to shorten in-person polling hours for the upcoming local election, with one member warning that changing the rules mid-cycle in a contested three- or four-way Select Board race would invite accusations of manipulation: "None of us are going to take that call." The board designated a member identified as Jen to coordinate 250th anniversary events across multiple planning groups, including a fireworks display the weekend before July 4, a potential band engagement with Rolandi of Belle Fleur estimated at $3,000 to $5,000, and a Historical Society ghost walk at Hill Cemetery.
