Board Backs $485,000 Fire Truck Borrowing Article

Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Blandford Select Board advances $485,000 fire truck borrowing ahead of October 13 vote. Members Jacqueline Coury, Ted Cousineau and Corinne Shartrand unanimously approved posting Article 1, raising the town's bond authorization from $400,000 to $485,000 to buy a used pumper after a $15,000 transmission repair on an aging engine. Cousineau separately reported veterans with under $8,400 in assets can access benefits reimbursed up to 75 percent by the state and federal government, saying "I want the veterans to get what they're entitled to." The board also moved toward filing a data center moratorium within 30 days, with Coury asking, "How long does a moratorium last before you have to have your bylaws in place?" Meanwhile, the town's library project returned to bid September 17 after its low bidder, W.J.

Mumford, fell short of a 3.5 percent veteran-owned business subcontracting goal, with a construction groundbreaking now set for October 17.
