Blandford to Post Full-Time Water Superintendent at $80,000 to $90,000

BLANDFORD — August 4, 2025 — Blandford Select Board sets $80,000-$90,000 salary range for full-time water superintendent post. Meeting with a town administrative official identified as Christine, the board agreed Monday to combine the water superintendent and primary water operator roles into a single 40-hour-per-week position, reversing a prior draft that had capped hours at 21 per week. The current water labor budget line stands at $58,000, and members noted that if current laborer Steve — reportedly weeks from completing his T2 operator licensing hours — were ultimately hired, that line could make nearly $100,000 available; an outside hire would require a budget transfer at a Special Town Meeting anticipated for September. Staff research attributed to a town official named Jackie showed the statewide average full-time water superintendent salary is approximately $108,000. The board also voted to add mandatory departmental meeting attendance, grant and project management duties, and dual reporting to both the Water Commission and Select Board to the job description. Applications are due September 5, to be posted on Indeed, MassRuralWater, and through the New England Water Works Association.
