Blandford Select Board approves transfers, appointments, and summer meeting schedule

BLANDFORD — June 24, 2024 — Blandford Select Board approves $15,451 in year-end transfers and shifts to summer hours. The board unanimously approved two department transfers at its June 24 meeting: $14,118.46 from the vocational education account to cover a Hilltown Community Ambulance overrun, and $1,332.96 from the Town Administrator account — available because the town currently has no administrator — to town hall miscellaneous expense. Christine Ferrara was appointed to both the energy management coordinator and ADA coordinator roles for terms beginning July 8, 2024. The board also discussed a public-safety concern at a vacant Main Street property where an uncovered swimming pool and a deteriorating fence have drawn a formal complaint, with members agreeing to pursue legal guidance if the property owner does not respond to a registered letter. Member Ted Cousineau pressed for better information flow on department-level grant opportunities, noting two pending transfer-station and Board of Health grants worth up to $7,500 had reached the board only by chance.
