Blandford Select Board Approves Three Appointments, Reviews Special Town Meeting Warrant

BLANDFORD — November 17, 2025 — Blandford Select Board approves three appointments and advances a six-article special town meeting warrant. The board unanimously appointed Sue Racine and Lloyd Meyer to the Council on Aging through June 30, 2028, and named Michaela Smith to the Board of Assessors through June 30, 2027, filling out Paul Martin's elected term. Town Administrator Christina briefed the board on an accepted perpetual care trust for North Blandford Cemetery — approved under MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A without a town meeting vote — and announced a new assistant treasurer-collector named Jordana started her first day. The warrant's headline article is a temporary zoning moratorium requiring a two-thirds vote, with the Planning Board on record in favor; a $14,000 bare-bones highway bathroom repair heads to town meeting as article six because the Finance Committee cannot reach quorum, with reserves currently at $45,000. A longstanding bylaw enforcement matter involving 10 unlicensed vehicles — with $650 in fines documented as of 2023 and nothing collected since — was referred back to the zoning enforcement officer to restart the formal notice process.
