Blandford Select Board Approves Chester Police Pact, Climate Committee Appointments

BLANDFORD — June 9, 2025 — Blandford Select Board approves shared police agreement with Chester and seats climate committee. The board voted unanimously June 9 to approve the inter-municipal agreement with Chester for shared police services for fiscal year 2026, a pact that had been under review since February and was physically delivered by Chester Town Administrator Don Humbeson on the day of the meeting. The board also appointed Deborah Lundgren, Charles Benson, and Paul Dershka to the town's Climate Leader Community Designation Committee for terms through June 30, 2026. In a presentation arranged after a chance encounter at the Connect 351 conference in Boston, Jim Starved of RCAP Solutions described no-cost federal technical assistance available to small water and wastewater systems, including rate analysis and asset management planning; the board directed RCAP to send a service agreement to the town administrator. Town Administrator Joanne reported that Highway Department employee Matt Parry has resigned effective June 27 to join MassDOT, and that the town's broadband bond anticipation note goes to bid July 17.
